Does anyone know what would make one of my chickens poop bloody, it looks like blood but I also have a tree that has red berries on it and they do stay under it during the hot days, is there anyway I can tell if it's blood or berries ?and if it's blood what would make her do this they are 1year old.
Thank you
the one i think it is, Is eating and moving around

I would sit out there and watch them for a bit to see if htey are eatting the berries. I have periodic out breaks of Cocci and I use Sulmet in their water and mix a bit with water and yogurt and their food for 3 days on and 3 days off for a nine day cycle and see if it abates if not I continue again. Ive been 20 days free and I hope when I go out later today againe I see no blody poop. Its a common bacteria found in soil. We finally had a weekend of hot summer so I hope its dried up at this point! Good luck.

I would start the Sulmet and yogurt ASAP. By the time you find out if its berries or not, they may be dead.

Once Cocci gets to the point of bloody droppings, you dont have much time.

If it is berries, the SulMet wont hurt.

Even with Cocci, the birds will eat and drink some.

Hope its the berries!
