Hi all,

First time raising chickens and it’s has been up and down waves of emotion. I have 4 red sex links at about 10 weeks old. Within the past 24 I noticed a few bloody poops around the chicken run and not sure how to go about. I was able to find which of the 4 and have noticed that she has been laying down more and is more lethargic in how she walks. This morning I found her alone in one of the corners of their run apart from the rest of the flock. I have started the chickens on corid but wanted to check if the treatment aligns based on similar experiences. I don’t have a vet but will be calling out to see who can do a fecal float

Coop is open with an attached run. Since it’s 5x12, I usually clean out the pine shavings every 4-5 days. The whole structure is currently on a concrete slab with about half covered with pine shavings till I can find a more permanent place on dirt. Water is changed out daily and sometime twice a day give the heat in Texas right now.

I would start them on Corid, dosing is below.

Liquid Corid dose is 2tsp or Powdered Corid Dose is 1 1/2tsp per gallon of water given for 5-7 days as the only source of drinking water.
Do not add any extra vitamins/electrolytes that contain B1(Thiamine) to food or water during the course of treatment.

Thanks. I have liquid Corid on hand and did a dose of .5 tsb per quart Saturday afternoon and will do the 5 days. This morning I did notice a lot bigger blood droppings and what looks to be maybe another chicken about to start. Would it be best to start a quarantine. I also let them out of their run a few hours in the afternoon. Is this something I should stop?

This morning I did notice a lot bigger blood dropping and what looks to be the start of another chicken. Should I quarantine and separate out? I also let out the flock out of their run in the afternoons to free range. Is this something I should stop till this passes?

Take photos of what you see.

Are they drinking the medicated water o.k.?

Have you looked at everyone's vent to make sure there's no issue with picking?

If all the chickens are drinking medicated water, I wouldn't separate anyone unless you have some that are very sick or being bullied to the point of not eating/drinking.

forgot to take photos but they have been drinking and eating. I did notice the chicken did perk up during lunch and is more active. I can look at the vent tomorrow morning but have not had an issue with being any getting bullied.

Update: vents look clean and not red and water intake is starting to line up with what they were drinking previously. I did see a few more poops which worry me specially the looser yellow one and the one with blood. Blood is a lot less but not sure if it would still confirm coccidiosis. This is the start of day 4. About when should I stop seeing blood?
