ok i have 16 3 week old chicks inside in brooder. they have heat light water and pine shavings this morning i noticed some bloody poop and now this after noon there is alot more.. husband had taken them to small coop for one night but i brought them back in i am soo overprotective...what is going on i feed ground chick starter...

With the bloody poo, this sounds like cocci. They need 1 tsp. of Corid to 1 gallon of water for 5 days.

You should be able to get Corid at the feed store. If you cannot get Corid, get Sulmet(not sure of dosing on Sulmet).

If I were you, I would do this ASAP.

Good luck!

Probably cocci. This happened to my 3 week olds too. Act very fast. I called the vet and picked up medicine which I gave to each bird by dropper for 4 days and they were fine. You could try that if your feed store doesn't have what you need. Good Luck and hurry because they can go down hill very fast!
