I am a brand new chick owner. I have 3 approximately 2 and a half week Maran chicks. I am seeing bloody poop in the brooder. I am not certain who it is from, but there is some poop that is not bloody so I am assuming that not all three of them are producing it. I have read a little bit about cocci.

Number one, should I try to find out the sick one and quarantine it or is it too late? Number two, is there something I can give it or them for this? Is it curable? Can I know for certain that it is cocci? They all seem to be eating and drinking.

Thank you anyone and everyone for any help you can give me!

I am feeding the DuMor Chick Starter/Grower from tractor Supply.  Is it medicated?  Also electrolytes in what form?

I'm using the Dumor and it isn't medicated. Unless is says so on the bag, it's safe to assume it isn't. As for electrolytes, I think there's stuff you can put in the water, but I'd read up on it. And is read up on Cocci, it's very serious and bloody poo is a major sign of it.

Im pretty sure one of them is dying. She doesn't chirp or struggle when I pick her up. I have separated her from the other two, but am guessing that, given what I have read about cocci, that the other two are doomed as well. How do I make sure that I don't bring home sick chicks the next time I get some? Is there something that should have been done? I purchased these Saturday at a Tractor Supply swap meet.
