Bloody tail abcess **GRAPHIC**

Quote:
I believe it is some sort of infection (Purpletree suggested Staph...I have to agree) covering the end of her tail. All the feathers have fallen out, some we pulled to help keep it clean.

We want to keep using Pen G, but I couldn't find the dosage directions for poultry. Thanks again purpletree!!!!!

We're all here to voice our opinions and respect the opinions of others. Suggesting that she be put down is your opinion and it's OK.

She seems to be responding to the penicillan well and is acting like a normal chicken. She just needs to get that abcess drained. She has bumblefoot of the butt.

That is definitely something the owner considered, but seeing how the bird is happy and eating and most importantly handling the cleaning well. So she (the owner) is going to at least finish the antibiotics and then re-evaluate.

I'd get some Prep H and LATHER it on her and gently push the prolapse back in. Then lather the vent in it. Keep her away from the chickens for sure--they will peck her to death! Good luck!

FYI:
This is not prolasp....it is on the tail.
