Hi all- we are currently on day 22 and have just had our 1st chick hatch. The umbilical has just come away from chick (30mins post hatch) but I have noticed where the vent is it has a blood sac. Do I need to do anything??

Keep an eye on it but it should dry up. I had one do this last year, it took a week or more for it to completely dry up but it was fine. Just make sure all the other chicks are not pecking at it. you could put a antibacterial ointment (non pain reliever kind on it)

Thank you - I will definitely keep an eye on this chick. X
