Chick with yolk sac?

Hi all! So I had a little chick hatch just this morning on its own and it seems to have a little unabsorbed yolk sac. I’ve put some Neosporin on it to keep it from getting infected. I figure it’ll either dry up and fall off or finish absorbing but wanted to make sure. Thanks!

I don't have a lot of experience with this situation, but I believe a yolk sack would be more yellow. If it was a yolk sack it would continue to be absorbed. Hopefully someone more familiar with this will chime in soon.

I had a Chick that looked just like that, I applied Betadine twice a Day and kept it separated from the others to avoid any pecking. In about 5 Days it had healed enough to rejoin the others.

Thank you! Unfortunately, the poor baby was the only one to hatch of its clutch so it’ll be staying with four ducklings once it’s healed. The ducklings are only a day or two older so hopefully it’ll go all right. Thanks!

Hi,

It doesn't need food/water for 72 hours from when it hatched, so I'd just leave it in the incubator and bet that tomorrow or perhaps even later tonight, it'll be fine.

So little chick seems to be doing fine, very snuggly little babe. The yolk sac has shrunk a little but I’m betting it’s going to dry up and fall off. Thanks for all the help!
