Blow drying silikies takes forever!!!

Bring 'em down to Texas.. 110 degree heat should dry 'em pretty quick!

If you have birds that you bathe...how often should you/is it safe? Every day/once a week/once a month/every three months??? I can here some of you thinking "when heck freezes over"...lol...I am thinking that bathing too often might dry out their skin...(then would I need lotion for my chicken???) I really can't believe that I am even talking about bathing chickens...lol. I have heard people talk alot about bathing silkies...not so much other types of birds. I am getting a silkie and am thinking that I might make it more of a pet than the others...(since I hear it won't lay eggs Does anyone bathe other types of chickens. I saw where someone else rinses in vinegar+water = said it made their feathers shiny. What does the fabric softner do other than make them smell nice....I am assuming that the younger you start to bathe them...the easier it will be in the long run...how early would you start?

I stand corrected...I realize that they must lay eggs sometimes...or there wouldn't be so many silkies...I just hear people complaining that they don't lay eggs very often...and go broody alot. This is my first venture into having chickens..so I don't have a point of reference. Perhaps they were comparing their silkies to the franconchickens that egg factories use to produce 500 eggs in the first year and a half... I was half joking. I got other chickens to lay and her (fingers crossed) just because they are so darn funny looking. If she lays it will be a bonus...other than that she can just be her adorable self and I will be happy.
