Well I went out to my chicken coop today and checked the nesting boxes for eggs as I do each morning and afternoon. As usual I found 10+ gorgeous eggs in colors of blue, green, cream, pink, brown and brown with dark brown speckles. I got to thinking that I should totally start blowing them out and preserving these gorgeous shells! Has anyone done this? I would love to make my own collection! :) please post all your pictures if you have done this! I would also love to see all your craft ideas for the shells! Thanks!

I've only tried it ONCE for a contest last year to decorate an egg for Halloween here on BYC because I wanted to carve it like a pumpkin. I was so scared I would bust the egg - I'd love to learn more about how to do it as well.

I’ve also used egg shells for BYC egg decorating contests (that come around on Halloween and Easter.) However, instead of blowing them out, I make a small hole in the back and pour out the contents, then wash the shell well. The hole doesn’t show if you only need one side for display.
