I have 2 BLRW that are 3 weeks old. They're already showing comb and wattle development, but I have heard that girls of this breed can show early development too.
Here's #1, with a single comb:

#2. This one has a black comb:

Better shot of comb:

The first one could possibly be a cockerel. I don't think the second one is... at least so far.

Off topic... but how did you take those photos?! They're really nice -- especially with the solid white/ivory background.

I think they're both cockerels. I have BLRW, and the comb got really big, really early, with the cockerels. They stayed small for a lot longer with the pullets, showing comparable to your bottom pic when they were 6wks old.

Thanks! I'm a knitting designer, so I have a photo tent in my studio. Whenever I photograph the chicks, I put them in the tent. It helps them stay still....sometimes.

Hmm...I'm getting mixed reviews. I'll just keep an eye on it. The 2nd one is acting pretty roo-ish though. Not much hope there I'm afraid.

Both roosters. If they are getting any waddles at this age, they are boys-plus they have thicker legs too.
