Oh Katy.... I wish I had a bator. I'd be begging you to be on the top of the egg list!! I love my girls (and Hotwing, of course). They are so fat and sassy... like BRs!

Potpie had just started laying (before the "strike") but Nugget was giving me five or so eggs a week. She's a good little layer.

Where did you get yours from? I think they are such pretty birds. I'm glad to hear your's lay pretty good.

Nugget is from BlissChick and the other two are from a guy in town.
Yes, Nugget lays well and I'm sure Potpie will, too. Hotwing is a great roo. He's sort of a sissy, but at his size, I'm glad he's not a flogger!

I dug thru my files and found pics of my BLRW's as chicks.

The first pic is new hatches 5-9-07,

the second pic is a couple weeks later at 6-2-07,

then the third and fourth pics are 6-21-07 (that would be roughly 6 1/2 wks old). It shows a pullet and my cockerel for comparison.

Sorry the cockerel is blurry in the pic but you get the idea of the difference in combs at that stage.

The very last pic is one showing a pullet and my roo when they were 24 wks old.

I had a great hatch 6 chicks, 3-dark, 3- light= 5 hens and 1 rooster !!!

Very pretty! Can't wait till mine are that old. Your pictures are pretty well comfirming what I was afraid of....I think I've only got 2 pullets

!! I guess in a couple more weeks I'll be more able to tell for sure. Looks to me like all mine are going to be light. Thanks for sharing your pictures.
