This morning when the phone rang at 6am announcing school would be delayed 2 hours I decided to cook bacon. It just seemed like a good idea.
An hour later when the phone rang again cancelling school for the day I cracked another egg into the pan.
Some people in my house like 'dunky' eggs which we refer to as 'runny' or over easy.
I prefer mine cooked well.
Back to the story -
Within thirty minutes I had sliced black rye and multigrain loaves of bread into thick thick pieces, buttered them, toasted them lightly under the broiler and in the last seconds added cheese to melt and become warm and gooey.
Then I built the most awesome sandwich with toasted bread, cheese, lettuce, tomato, bacon and egg.
When I looked out the window and saw the snow coming down in giant fluffy flakes I poured another cup of coffee.
While it seems as if I might had a nice leisurely morning with a delicious breakfast I have to confess the truth was far different. Afterward I had to go and carry water to my goats and chickens, feed up all the stock, collect eggs, and haul two loads of firewood up from the barn.
It was a long morning and I need a nap!
