I'd like everyone's help identifying some eggs I received from an ebay seller as well as some advice from you all about what to do in this situation.

The ebay listing I ordered from was 12 Ameraucana eggs + bonus Crested Cream Legbar eggs. All eggs were supposed to be blue, but I got a mix of very light blue, olive, and white. I have never seen Lavender Ameraucana eggs, but imagined they would be a little more blue.
They actually shipped 23 eggs instead of 12, however 6 of them were broken when they arrived, and the yolk was all over the rest of the eggs and the box. The post office had to put the package in a plastic bag because of the awful smell coming from the package. I had to wash all the eggs.

My questions are:
1. Is this typical of shipped eggs?
2. Would you keep the eggs?
3. Do these look like Lavender Ameraucana eggs and Crested Cream Legbar eggs?

The inside of the package they shipped in.

Eggs taken out of the package. The yellow is leaking yolk.

They did a terrible job packing those eggs! If packed correctly you should have had very few with a crack and none broke and leaking. Scrambled air sacks from rough handling is out of the sellers hands but, if bubble wrapped individually with extra bubble wrap around all - they would have been in better shape. Newspaper is not good for shipping fragile things.

Ameraucana egg color can very a lot and they can lose some of the blue pigment farther into the season. Not all Ameraucana hens lay blue eggs and while it' not desirable some lay more greenish eggs or very light color. It's too bad they didn't have their breeding pens divided so, you would know what eggs you got. Was it a mixed breeding pen? I would be asking questions and for a refund for poor packing.

Thanks fried green eggs. I'm not sure the effects of washing the eggs to get the extra yolk off. We have received only one shipment from ebay before and one egg was cracked, but the rest were fine.

Does anyone else want to weigh in? I hate to do this, but I'm probably going to open an ebay ticket for a refund.

True Ameraucanas do lay blue eggs. The shade can vary, but they will be blue. Easter Eggers, on the other hand, lay those green and olive eggs. I'm guessing the seller bought EEs that were labeled as Ameraucanas and are selling them as such.

They DID do a horrible job packing those eggs! When I've shipped them, I wrap each egg in bubble wrap, put a layer of bubble wrap over them in the carton and tape it shut. Then I pack the box tight with newspaper so the carton can't move at all. No broken eggs.
Good luck with the Ebay claim, they seem to really side with the seller these days :/
