Not necessarily. Some females don't lay until age 8 or 10. It all depends. I have a nearly 6 yr old I think is female that's never laid an egg.
What makes you think yours is a female? Just curious because i've read you can't sex them without DNA. Or until an egg is laid, and that can start at 3 years old. We never DNA tested ours because it didn't matter to us what sex it is. I was told the test are $20-30 dollars.

There are minor differences in size, head shape and eye shape, and other macaw owners have told me mine looks like a hen (has a more egg-shaped as opposed to angular head). However, my bird has not been DNA'd yet; I plan to have it done this summer. But, as far as egg-laying goes, I belong to a parrot forum where I know of a woman who has an 11 year old B&G hen that layed her first egg just the other day. I also know of DNA'd female macaws that have never laid an egg as of age 17 or 18. It would be unusual for one to lay at age 3-4 in captivity and without a mate. They don't usually start until at least 5.
I had my mini-macaw DNA'd. It cost $25.
