Blue Andalusian or Black Jersey Giants

Hey All!!

I'm in need of some help from my chicken friend "experts"

. So I ordered some Blue Andalusians and Black Jersey Giants from a different hatchery than I normally deal with. Lesson learned the hard way I have to tell them to let me know which ones are which. My local hatchery has me very spoiled. I'm pretty certain I have them sorted correctly but not sure. I got a couple of friends together and I placed the order.

Now I have the birds and want to make sure everyone gets the right ones. Can anyone help me? I'm not very familiar with these two breeds.

The Jersey Giant chicks should be darker than the Andalusians.

I've checked both of those out. If I'm correct the Jersey Giants are going to be a bit bigger of a chick also. I'm pretty sure they are all separated correctly. Thanks for the links!

Jersey giants should have yellow feet bottoms while the andalusians should have pink feet bottoms.

That worked like a charm! Thanks for your help ramierzfarming! And another good tibit for my chicken bank of knowledge! Now I am curious where did you learn that information from?

I have had both breeds and it was something I just noticed (I have always had a tendency to see small things that most the people I deal with over look

) and its a easy way to tell black jersey giants from australorps as well.

Oh cool. I love knowing the little differences. I would at a feed store and I am the chicken person when people call or come in with questions. And have my own flock of around 100ish. Mix and match for now until I decide what I would like to specialize in. So how do you tell the difference between those the giants and australorps? The chicks are so very similar.

Sorry should have made that a little more clear. Just like the giants and andalusians, giants have yellow feet bottoms and australorps have pink.
