Blue Andalusians - Ideal/McMurray?

Quote:
Feathersite is wrong. You can not get white from blue birds unless both parents are carrying recessive white. Splash ok, not white. It's the normal blue X blue equation.

I have Blue Andalusians, that are from a breeder line that are looking very nice. I will have eggs available this spring and may even be persuaded to hatch out some and ship chicks.
If its not far away.
I have one of each color Roosters. And pullets of all 3 colors.
lauralou, your girls are beautiful.

I've got two splash andulusians that came from Ideal. They are about 18 months old and have just completed a full molt. They are much more plumper now that they were.I don't let mine out everyday but they are the one's that will range the fartherest away from the coop. They are not the friendliest birds but they are very curious. Not much on love and affection.

Not white but Splash, it is a very pretty color.

Here is Merryweather. I got her from Murray. She was awesome. She was not the friendliest chick but I did not care I thought she was beautiful, then one day she disappeared.

Thanks to all for saying my girls are pretty! I sure do think they are. Well, not so much now that they are molting. Poor Shadow has severe pincushion-head. Very silly.

So, scgamecock got splashes from Ideal. There goes my theory about the black/splash breeding. I guess I just got lucky to get my 4 blues.

And herechickchick, I'm glad you posted that photo of Merryweather. She was part of the reason I decided to give Andalusians a try. Beautiful bird. I'm so sorry you lost her.

Does anyone else have any photos? I'd love to see more Andalusian pics.

First time poster, here.
I have 3 Blue Andalusian hens and 2 roosters. I ordered 10 of them from McMurrays earlier this year, and they sent an extra rooster chick. I sold 6 of them. I was a little irritated that out of 3 roosters, I didn't get one blue. I did get 5 blue hens and kept the three. One is a light blue and the other two have the desired lacing. The light blue, that I call Powder, is very friendly and comes running whenever she sees me come out of the house. And we have one very friendly rooster - a black named Zorro. He is the head of the flock and also comes running when ever he sees me. He loved to fly up on my shoulder as a youngster, but I put an end to that as he got too big. He is happy to just stand very near to me now.
Our other Andalusian rooster, Barney, is a kind of dove gray splash. I had not heard of this color and not sure how it fits in genetically. Everyone who sees him just falls in love. He is huge, for one, and very flashy. He is Zorro's deputy.

I have bought chickens from Murray McMurray. They are a reliable hatchery, but the chickens are very often small and not great examples of the breed. I bought from Sandhill this year. The quality of the breeds was much better, but you can only buy straight run. I once got a great silver spangled Hamburg from McMurray, but she was one out of many.
