Blue Andalusians - Ideal/McMurray?

Quote:
Very beautiful!
McMurray's said they bred for color. But I don't think mine are as nice. Of course, I love the blues, but I also love the splash colors. Here are some pics of 2 of my hens and my pale blue splash boy:

Here's what I think I'd recommend not to do - order from MPC - because my two from there (dropshipped from Meyers) have loads of tan on their breasts which, I've read, in undesirable in the breed. I realize the question was Ideal or McMurray, but someone might benefit by considering my tale of Blue/Tan Andalusian from MPC. They're "pretty", but only in their own odd way and they aren't as pretty as the ones pictured in this thread.

They're blue.

The little black looking one is Storm, who grew up to be the darkest of the blues. The picture makes her look blacker than she was, though. She was a very, very dark blue.

Are all those in the picture Andalusians? I
did raise 11 Andy chicks and my darkest (like your Storm) ended up black. He was the only black out of the group (from MMM hatchery). He had a little mask across his eyes, so we named him Zorro. He did grow up to be a rooster.
My white splash were pale yellow as chicks and developed their dark 'splash' feathers at about 3 to 4 months. I didn't have any dark yellow as in your photo. Mine were more like the one to the right of your picture.
I also had three yellow chicks who had a soft silver overlay. They were big sleepy chicks. They ended up to be a pale blue splash color. I only kept the rooster of that color. He is big and beautiful. I don't know if that is genetically the same as the white splash?

Barn Maid Ann,

No, only the 3 blue chicks, front and center are Blue Andalusians. The two in the back are red sex-links, and to the right is a little buff orp hiney.

Interesting that the splash are pale yellow as chicks. I didn't know that.

Sorry for the confusion!

We got a blue andalusian roo as an extra in our order from McMurray. He was beautiful but only lived a week. (Virus problems... lost 11 of them last spring)

If Ideal can send you blues as nice as those in the pics, I suppose I will be ordering from Ideal.

Thanks for the info about MPC and Meyer because I had considered them.

This is the girl I was referring to from MPC/Meyer: Actually, I got two that look like this and one more that looks better, at least it's solid, but I think it's a bantam Blue Anadalusian. (Yes, sorry to admit I'm not sure!)

I could have been unlucky and maybe most are good, but who knows?

There is no way thats a blue andalusian with brown on it like that, sorry

This is a picture of a boy I got from McMurray years ago. I think he was pretty nice.
