Blue Australorp?

I'm so glad i posted. I've never seen scaly leg mites. I just went to get A&D ointment. Going to do the gasoline treatment.

Thank you everyone!
Please do NOT use gasoline. The A&D should work or even vaseline. If it does not, try ivermectin pour on. I've used it successfully. There are several references on the site pertaining to ivermectin dosage. You may need to treat all your chickens. Good luck. She beautiful.

I treated for the scaly leg mites - I don't think her feet look any better - she does not seem to be bothered at all - not picking, etc. I used gasoline followed up with A&D - will never do gasoline again - it appeared to be painful - she was a very unhappy girl for a few hours.

I sprayed the roosts with pyrethrins. The other hens seem fine. Could this girl have something else wrong with her feet? BTW feathers are coming in on her feet.

If she had mites, they have died but the scales on her legs are already lifted. I believe you can clean her legs with a soft tooth brush, soap, and water. This will remove the dead mites and dirt from beneath the lifted scales but some damage (lifted scales) may remain.
