Hello. Bridget is a BLUE (BBS) AMERAUCANA from Meyer Hatchery born 09/07/21, so just shy of 5 months. We ordered her as a female, so I have always thought of her as such. But for the past couple months, I have not been so sure. She has always been super skiddish. Then I noticed the feathers around her neck and thought her tail was a bit too high and wide. But I have never had an Ameraucana before :idunno

Our main rooster, Rupert, is a Whiting True Green. We only yesterday got rid of a 7 month old other surprise rooster Blue laced red Wyandotte. So am I back up to two roosters again? Or does this look like a female Ameraucana?

Sorry the contrast wasn't great that morning I took these, the ground was frosted, so it's the same color as Bridget.

Definitely a cockerel! Look at those hackle and saddle feathers.

Thank you all. Sometimes you just really need to hear it from other people ;)

I guess Bridget may need a name change. Briggs, perhaps :)

We shall see how he behaves. So far, he's not mean, just super elusive. The ladies pick on him quite a bit, which is probably a good thing- showing them they are not to be messed with. He and only one other pullet (thank goodness) are the youngest in the flock (5 months) and the rest are all either 7 or 22 months old. If he stays nice to the ladies and keeps out of our way, there MAY be a place in my program for him. I hope I can make it work out.
