Blue Black Splash Ameraucanas - Which roo would you keep?

I think what Jean was trying to say "junk" meaning there would be various ranges of shades of blue, nothing is consisent hatch after hatch out of a blue stock. You would get dark blue, light blue, splash and some times you would get more "red" or bronze cast in their neck, wing and tail feathers which they do bleed colors more than the blacks (correct me if I am wrong!).

Would that be more likely to happen with a straight blue background or more so if the blue was from a bbs breeding? Or does it just not matter? I have no bleeding in mine at all. I've never seen red in any of my blues, but will this definately happen using bbs stock?

People like all three colors. If you keep a black you will not get any more blue.

What, Jean? She has two splash pullets, so if she kept a black rooster, she'd get blue chicks from that, unless I completely misunderstood what she said in her first post.

pips&peeps :

oops I meant splash.

by junk blues, I meant birds with poor blue color not worthy of breeding

I like the blues you get out of black to blue matings.

Okay... I've summed up the feedback and this is going to be really tough - way tougher than I thought!
I have 2 blue, 2 splash and 1 black pullets... I only have room for 1 roo...
Slash Roo = 3 splash & 2 blue offspring... Pro - I love splash! / Con - no black
Blue Roo = 3 blue, 1 black, 1 splash... Pro - all 3 colors / Con - poor blue coloring
Black Roo = 3 blue & 2 black offspring... Pro - nice blues / Con - no splash
Any additional comments?

I sure appreciate the help and advice!

Is there no way possible to keep two of your roos? What if the worst case scenario happened and you lost your breeder rooster? Hate to muddy your water, though.

I totally agree that it is risky just keeping one roo... but, I think with just 5 hens - two roos would be too many
