Blue Bonnet Classic - Texas A&M - january 5, 2008

I know there were alot of bantams.
We tried to go to Chilis but got lost. I saw the two little serama hens yall were selling. I almost bid on them but I decided not to. That shows you how good that Sumatra was that there were so many bantams and he got reserve champion!!!:|

Oh well that's too bad that you all got lost

I wish you could have made it.

Those were Johnny Hayes' seramas. We put a couple of bids in on them but apparently got outbid. Oh well, we ended up with a pair anyway.

I hope you can make it to a future meeting. It would be nice to meet you!

That's a really good question. I'll look around and see what I can find. If someone else knows, I'd like them to inform me as well.

billy, was that the only standard dominique that was out there? cuz i saw only one there and it was a beauty, i thought. i was AMAZED at the feather colors. it really showed the difference between a dominique and a barred rock. and that comb was just so kewl.

there was a couple there that brought their bantam dominique hens. they were soooo CUTE! i hope they get to find a rooster for them soon so i can buy their eggs.

buster and i had so much fun. my feet hurt so bad by the end of saturday. we finally got out of there around 6-6.30pm. buster passed out in the front seat the minute we hit the highway. he was disappointed he didn't win anything but said he had alot of fun.

i think my mottled houdan (which i decided to bring at the very last minute) won reserve continental but we didn't get anything cuz there wasn't 15 birds in the class. i'll be bringing 15 next time.

I believe it will be the spring show for the Abilene Club in March. The show season really slows down in Texas after January because it is breeding season and it gets warmer so the birds just aren't in condition.

If you want a show catalog for the show in Abilene you can e-mail Lori Cary at

The Abilene club always puts on a first rate show, this spring show will be around 400-500 birds, maybe a little smaller.
I heard that the Stock show was at around 950 birds, this is way down from years past. By the way the Bluebonnet classic was 808 birds not including the pigeons (108) or the gamecocks.
