My Brahma rooster died at Easter this year, so I quickly saved up some eggs and hatched them under my silkies. It was their first time being mothers, so only two hatched, one Brahma and another who was a leghorn welsummer cross. As they grew, they both seemed to be the same sex, male. Their wings grew slowly and square, they didn’t have tails until four weeks old, and all the other tell tail signs of chicks being male. The white chick is now definitely male, but I’m now having second thoughts about the Brahma, he doesn’t seem to be developing and pointed feathered yet and he’s 15 week old. His face is pale but he’s just suffered an eye infection, it’s quickly becoming red now, but the comb isn’t big at all, even for a pea comb.
I’ve included photos of his entire growth alongside his adopted brother.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
