Blue chickens thread

I got pics today of my Blue Barred Rock Roo and wanted to share

He may not make it to the dinner table.... But it would be several months before I could breed him..... Unless I can find some BR pullets or hatch some soon.

I think the blues may be more striking than BR.... if the hackles and saddles are as dark on this guy as they are on Blue Rock he is going to be a real looker.

Illia said she is a melanized blue silver duck-wing, I have in a pen with my blue Birchen roo. He is not a true Birchen. I may play around with her and my rump less Barred rock boy. I believe I could work towards some Crele.

I do not have any duck-wing Arucaunas right now.

I plan on hatching more pretty soon. I got her from a lady who purchased her from here So I will use her with the Arucauna for now, but her babies could be used in my Olive-egger project. Here is the roo she is with...

Very cool poularde! Your Birchen esque roo is a looker too, I think the idea of a Blue Silver Crele Araucana would be absolutely stunning though! Is the rumpless Barred Rock you have pure Rock, or is it an Araucana cross? I'd be interested to see how your project plays out.

I've been working on blue barred rocks for a while now. These are my third generation babies Still getting solid blues and black chicks but another generation and we're all blue barred baby!

WOW I have not seen this thread pop up in a LONG TIME........ Still would not mind seeing more BLUE CHICKENS..... anybody got anything new? I am working on some BLUE projects but they are still babies. I will get some pictures in a few weeks.

I have a rooster I think is a blue (I call him that anyhow..) and since splash is not a recognized color of the Ameraucana breed... I guess he's a Blue Splash EE. He's gorgeous and we love him - although he doesn't get along with the older BO rooster in the main coop (he's a teenager) so we had to separate him and two ladies to the smaller coop. Wonder what the babies will be.. Butter and Scotch are Wheaten Splash EE hens (said they were Ameraucana but again, splash is not recognized so they can't be)...anyone know? Is Blue gonna win out in color?
