Blue Cochin? Suppose to have white feather tips & multi colored beak?

This was bought at our feed store. I think its a cochin. Pretty sure it is. But cause he was out of an assortment of chicks. I have no idea what coloration he is. I think he is a large variety too not the bantam. Cause he is bigger then even my RIR hen which is the same age as him. I posted a few photos of him a few days ago but he is getting bigger every day. And I'm starting to wonder if it will be able to tell now. Ive never had a blue cochin before. The only ones I ever had was a pair of black cochins.

It definitely looks like a cochin, but I would say it is more likely a black cochin instead of a blue. Could be though, as it's hard to tell the 'shade' by a pic. A blue would be more of a slate grey coloring, and black would be very dark. But they lose the white fluffies as they grow.

my black ones had white on them too but not as much as yours. I vote with the other poster who said black -- UNLESS it's a Mottled!! Wouldn't that be great!!!

Unfortunately, I don't believe there are any mottleds in LF cochins yet, certainly not from a hatchery!, so that is probably not what it is. It would be nice if they would get around to making them!

I don't think so, it looks like the little black cochin babies I have in the brooders.

On a side note, I have some mottled black bantam cochins. I get about 10 eggs a week if you are interested

Have you considered this chick to be a dark brahma. I got what I thought was a cochin and now the comb and feathers really remind me of a dark bahma.
