ok this guy was a freebie when i bought my blue cochins....im guessing its due to the buff leakage round his neck? is this caused by breeding buff with blue? could i still use this guy for breeding perhaps (i have another blue roo but i like this 'buff'blue roos foot feathering, body shape and comb more)

could i perhaps 'breed out' the buff colouring or would that take way too many generations?

He's very pretty, but it looks to me like more than just "leakage". I think you're correct in thinking he is a cross with a different color variety.

Wow, he's beautiful! What a gorgeous roo.

If I were you, I wouldn't use him for a breeding program if you're just trying to breed blues. Better to be safe than sorry.

If you want, you could try to make more buff-blue cochins, that'd be a really cool new color.

I wouldnt use him if you have a solid blue roo to use, it can be really hard to breed out.

And I dont think hes crossed with buff, hes more likely crossed with partridge becuase buff crossed with extended black breeds usually has the buff leakage in the breasts mainly and in that roo the leakage isnt in the breasts and is showing more influence from an actual pattern gene instead of just random leakage. He actually looks pretty close to Blue Partridge so I would breed the Blue roo with the Blue hens and get some Partridge hens for that roo and work on Blue Partridge Cochins.
