Looking at the little feet feathers growing in on the feet, it actually looks like it may be black. But again, so hard to say!! The only way to really know if a bird is black is to breed to a splash (if black, 100% of offspring will be blue, if blue, 50/50 splash and blue offspring) Or you can breed to a know black and if any of the chicks are blue, then that chick is as well.
Sounds like a good reason to get another bird. 😆

All jokes aside, the little one is really cute and sweet, so no matter what color he is, Pippin will be well loved.

Hello! I have a chick that was most likely the result of breeding a blue cream (aka porcelain) to a lavender. The chick is black. Does anyone know what this chick is carrying? Would it be considered a lavender split? Or would it be a blue cream split - is that even a thing?

I’m not sure how the buff in a blue cream can affect a split chick. Any insight would be appreciated!
Blue cream is created two ways. Buff and blue or buff and lavender. It will depend on the breeder what they use. So try to talk to the to make sure how they created their blue creams. I had this issue when I had some. Turned out they used both blue and lavender with buff so I ended up selling them all.
