BLUE CUCKOO MARANS WITH NO BARRING

I recently acquired 2 Blue Cuckoo Marans ( as I was told) from a local feed and saddle shop. They are now 3 weeks old. When does the barring become obvious? I have not had a barred bird before. Right now they are solid with no white except for their butt and neck. I have a feeling they are sex linked and solid are female and barred are male. Anyone out there have knowledge of the breed?

Barrings are evident as soon as they feather in. Barred/cuckoo chicks also hatch with a white head spot. If they are full Marans its possible they used a splash Marans rooster over Cuckoo Marans hens which would produce sex-linked chicks. If that's the case at least you have pullets

These look like Sappire Gem pullets. Blue Cuckoo Marans would not only be subtle barred, they would have white/pink legs.

I agree that the far right is the Blue Star aka SG. The other two have feathered legs.

I had a Marans mixup... hoping someone can help.

Ordered 1 Blue Copper Marans pullet, 1 Black Copper Marans pullet and 1 Blue Cuckoo Marans pullet. I wound up with 2 roos and 1 pullet.

One of the roos is a BCM, but I can't tell if my 2nd roo is the Blue Cuckoo or Blue Copper. He doesn't look particularly barred and isn't showing any copper yet, though very young, still (12.5 weeks). The BCM just started showing copper today. The mystery blue rooster is starting to show lighter feathers coming in on his hackles where the copper, I thought, would be.

Too, the remaining blue - the pullet - appears penciled.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Probably too early to tell with him. If he is a blue copper, the copper coloring should be coming in soon. I suspect he is though, as he should be barred if he was a cuckoo, and he is not.
Your pullet is not pencilled. Blue birds are called "self laced" with slightly darker blue around the blue feathers.

Could be! The amount of copper varies quite a bit, especially on the hens. If they are blue copper you can expect to see this coloring come in, in a few weeks.
