At 8 weeks old Tilly has a black comb and wattles. Is the normal for the breed?

These are stunning birds. I have 3 Golden Coocoo Marans, three different shades of the golden. It makes it easy to identify them. Mild Temperament. Have they started laying yet?
Thank you. Not laying yet. As you said, mine are very calm. They hardly have any comb or wattles at this age so I might be waiting a while. I have a Black Marans that I got last year. She was the first to lay at 17 weeks but she goes broody way too much. Post a photo of yours. They sound interesting.

Chickens (especially Blue ) can have melanized epidermal pigment. And she is a Blue Marans with many feathers on her feet. Not to offend anyone by the name but Gypsy face is the word also used for dark faced chickens.ive done lots of research since I first made this thread.
