I have a strange problem that I can't figure out. For the past three days we have had a blue egg pecked through. Not eaten, just a hole pecked in it. I know all three eggs have been laid by the same bird because they are the lightest blue ones. One was even moved to a different nest box after being pecked.......... you could see the yolk drippings from where it was carried making a path to the other nest box. Any ideas or suggestions?

What I can't figure out is why is it the same bird's egg that keeps getting pecked through? Of a dozen eggs, only the light blue one keeps getting pecked. The yolk is left inside and not eaten.

My guess would be the hen that laid the egg. Maybe when she looks at the egg it is new and shiny and wet; she can't help her self.

I have roll away nests......

We found the culpret. She was eating the eggs laid by the hen that laid in the same box she wanted to use. We broke her of it by switching nest boxes around.
