Blue lace reds

Oh, yeah, they're still around and people are still keeping/raising/selling them - but I think THIS year, lavender ameraucanas are the "new" BLRW... Kinda like last year, BLRW's were the "new" BCM.

Oh I agree, I would have then no matter what. I just remember I would hear allot about them and then all of a sudden its like they dropped off the earth.

Oh, I know.. every year is a new "fad" bird. Im not sure how good that is for the selected breeds either. One year Maran eggs were going for 60-80 a piece, then people found out they really don't lay that well and the dark eggs are only in the start of the laying season. Well, the really dark ones anyway. So now they are back to normal. Its weird at best.

I have an EE that must have been crossed with something similar to your blue beauties. She has the blue on the back 1/2 and underside, but a darker version of speckling and gold on her upper carriage - absolutely beautiful! May have to look for some of these!

Thank you!
I decided to raise BLRW because I love lacing... and I wanted a large, rose comed breed for cold winters. That also was friendly. So far they are living up to all of those claims! And they lay like crazy in really cold temps. At the time I chose to breed them I didn't know they where a fad chicken...
