Blue laced red wyandotte cockerels

I purchased a couple of BLRW cockerels this spring thinking I'd raise a few for myself and friends. I'm not fond of the coloring of these guys .... is it their age, or is their coloring poor?

Could they be splash?

They sure could ... I think the pullet I bought them with is splashy. They sure don't look like the other hens that I have, or pics of nice roosters! Not sure I want to keep them.

They’re splash laced reds. If bred to blue laced reds, they’ll produce half blue and half splash offspring. If bred to black laced reds, all their offspring will be blue laced red.

Oh! that explains the off color. I have both blue and black hens ... so there is hope! thanks

Splash is very light blue with varying amounts of darker blue spots.

In other words, they will produce better color than the dark blue laced reds, if you have BLR females.

They're splash. I have a white laced red Cornish bantam that has similar markings
