Are there any clues to whether a blue laced red wyandotte is male or female at 1-2 weeks? I want to make sure I'm taking home hens if I can.

Also, having two blue laced red wyandotte parents does NOT mean you will get chicks that look like their mom and dad - the pattern doesn't pass down to all the chicks. You can google it.

So you'll want to be on the lookout for that as well...

Well the lacing does carry over, but they do follow BBS genetics.
Wyandottes are commonly difficult to sex early as the females often have very pink combs and wattles early, making it harder.
Recommend posting photos of your birds no sooner than 8 weeks. 😊

There are a few hatcheries, Meyer and McMurray that I know of, that sell sexed BLRW pullet chicks. More likely to get females that way, between 85-90% accuracy depending on the hatchery.😊

I have 6 BLRWs and I feather sexed them when they were little and that turned out to be inaccurate and one of them got it’s comb in super early and still turned out to be a hen so you really just have to wait and see. Saddle feathers will probably be the thing to wait for.

Some people claim that males have thicker legs, but I'm not sure if that's true or not (my two naked neck males had thick legs and were male, but that's probably a coincidence....)

im curious . i dont have the time right now to scan all the pages. does anyone have the purposed s.o.p. for the blrw
