Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Happy Easter! I have been lurking on this thread for a while and now I have my first BLRW chick. She hatched this morning and my little girl is over the moon to have Easter chicks.

I am glad to finally be a member of the BLRW group and look forward to learning more about this breed.

Hello i hatched these just 2 weeks ago and was hoping you folks could help me tell whether these are blue or black laced and how you can tell. I have some splash chicks also but they are pretty obvious to tell apart.

your chicks are about the same age. as the ones i got from nava. mine hatched out 3/19.

beckyb1971 hatched our first blrw eggs out of our blrw even after loosin power for 26 hours.

That is nice to know....we lost power for 6 hrs.

My sweet blue lace reds are around 6 weeks old. I have 10 blue lace red, and 2 that are blue lace gold lace cross. One of the crosses has such as unusual comb. I will post pictures to see what you think. At this age what are my odds of discerning gender? What are some easy tells? I've been trying to notice tail length and comb color....any other tips? Will add some pics of our blues and our mixes. New to the breed but so in love!

Hi!!!! I am new to this thread but I have BLR eggs due to hatch this saterday... lock down happened today

I candeled at day 7 and 14 and tossed two clears... out of an order of 13 ... some are BLR some are lavender Orpts... so I cannot wait to see how many of each I get I will get blue/black/splash laced reds ... right?

I will post picts once they hatch!!!!!

I see quite a few red waddles already..those are males. The dull color waddles be girls! I see quite a few of them too.


You have a single comb and that is probably from a cross to a different breed. They are cute pets..enjoy them.

Okay, give me your opinions!! I have two new blue laced red wyandottes. Would like to know what you think about their sex and why? Hens or Roos? 9 weeks old. Also, as these are the first blrw I have had, tell me what you think about the coloring. I have no idea how to judge at this time.


#1. I think this is a hen. Very calm. Wants to be held.


#2. I am hoping this one is a roo. What do you think? Sorry for the bad pics.
