Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

I have two mystery Whyandottes. Does anyone think this is a BLRW? They both look exactly the same and have this blue-ish color coming in but I can't see any lacing yet. They were three weeks yesterday.

I would definitely say those are blrw, it has that chipmunk coloring, and the speckled face. I have the twin chick to yours, I swear.... But they also come in other colors, but this one definitely is one. How pure breed though you might not know until Much older.

The first picture if of a chick that looks like yours, and then of 4 Blrw that all came from the same breeder.

I have 4 six-week-old BLRWs, and the blue and the black ones still have a bit of speckling on their wing feathers like the photo above. Do they outgrow that?
Yes, they will molt a few times before they are 5 months old. Each time their feathers will get better.

I guess there are exemptions, like domesticated pets (apart from chickens), I feel like I'm staying from the point here..... I'm gonna have a cup of coffee now.....

Ok, thx! Camouflage makes sense. My splash chicks never had as much speckling, so I was wondering. Could they also outgrow shafting? Still a bit early to tell, but it looks like I have 3 cockerels and 1 pullet. Not the best start.

But nice, big, round birds. And very friendly.

Oh thank Heavens!!! I was getting very worried based on some other info I got!!!!

Anybody have a general cut off for wattle growth or comb color indicating roos? As in at week X , if the comb is pale and no obvious wattles the bird should be a pullet.
