Mine did not start laying till they were 9-11 months old either..
nice dark color on her..that blue male that was left for you at TO's is a Foley breeding. He is pretty young and developing nicely. He should loose that brassiness in his hack and saddle feathers on his first moult.

Thanks Vicki, I am trying to figure how to make the trip down to Cuties to pick him up. I mapped it and its a 4 1/2 hr drive from here. I may be able to swing it if I can get things juggled around here but also have to check her schedule. She sent me photos and he's much better looking than my current roo.

I'm not sure if I shared photos of this bird before on here or just on the Cheeseheads thread but after some rethinking what I'm doing I wanted to get more opinions. I was told this pullet was of Foley breeding, I also purchased a splash which died do to previous owner leaving in a vehicle for over 6 hours in unvented vehicle before I picked her up. Anyhow I just want to know if what I was told about her was even near the truth. She is from a Feb 2013 hatch and was also told she had been laying and have yet to receive an egg from her. Sorry for the bad photos and also she is going thru molt when photos taken.

She has potential. . I am not sure Foley sells his best birds though (no surprise there). I had some eggs from a pair of birds directly from Foley and the chicks were extremely variable in quality. It really depends on what set of genes you end up with in each bird.

I totally agree with you. Even looking at her comb(a nice one at that) it does not look red enough yet.

Clark, there is a good possibility the fam will be home for thanksgiving. If they come, they are happy to bring your roo to winter!! I will keep you posted. If not thanksgiving, there will be a time . We will get hom to you! Lol
