Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Quote:
IF both parents have good lacing, and your goal is blue laced silvers, then yes, a splash laced red with a silver laced will work. a silver laced roo over splash laced red hens would be best, you'll get silver hens (possibly red leakage) with blue lacing, then just go back to the silver laced with the best type to improve color and type, and just keep a blue in the mix.

That is the cross I have a splash laced red pullet with a SLW roo. 100% blue babies from that cross. If you breed a BLRW with a SLW you will still get 50/50 but it would be slower.

Latest photos of the clan.

Sorry for the bad photos, I just had my cell on me the other day when I just spent some time watching them.
I had taken them some fermented feed, so they were too distracted eating. Next time I'll take the camera!

SClark....Are these the birds (females) you got from Cuties? (The adults) and the one male from chickenscratch? I know the chicks are from your original birds..
The first photo, the 2 gals on the right are from Cuties and the darker on left is my Foley pullet. The 2nd photo of the boys, from cs is the front boy and Zeus is in back, photo is deceiving as Zeus is much larger. The blue chick seems to have nice lacing but looks like a blue laced gold the other is black laced and of course 2 just black dottes which are still half blrw but came out all black. Pic 4 shows the 2 from cuties in front and last photo is the Foley pullet again.

Beautiful BL-red Wyandottes everyone I remember a few years back my dad ordered some from Mcmurray and they were very pretty. He ended up losing a bunch to predators and he sold the few he had left.

Sclark, did you keep criss cross & apple for the names? I currently have sauce paired with ellis.
Delisha, why does criss cross have the line through the middle of her feather? Does it just happen?
I do miss those two.

It is a feather fault and one of the things that need to be worked on in many darker laced birds..I have it in my Gold laced Orpingtons too.

The second group was from jean? Those are the ones I got rid of. I currently have our 3 from the first group. And blackie. Not sure which group he is from. I have 3 chicks to grow out from blackie. I just sold the two single comb. Will have to cull against it. I am setting 10 eggs from sauce tonight. Then I was thinking of giving z a go. Just for the heck of it.

Blackie is from Max's second group I think..not sure..check his toe punch...How is his comb? I kept a splash male and his comb is OK..not crazy about it. The other male I kept I need to cull eventually..his comb is pretty bad.

Single comb chicks? from the first breeding? I have not gotten single combs..just all males..I culled a bunch of them and I will be culling 5 more when it gets a little warmer. I have a few Orps to cull too. I was hit with mostly males last breeding..I sure hope this year is females.
