Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Nickeechickee here's a pic of some of my 6 week old chicks, the one in the front group to left is a black. I thought all mine were black at first too because I'm new to them. Now it's obvious who's blue and who's black since they feathered. Yours looks blue to me too.

Comforting she looks female! As dark as she is, you still think blue? She's from a hatchery, so I know not going to make standard...just some yard candy for me.

yes I'm sure! About the blue anyway See how the feathers on her butt and back are not black? they're light black or gray? that will be a lovely blue when they feather out. around 6-8 weeks they will look more laced and closer to how they "should" look

I bought an assortment of hatching eggs back in February and hatched 2 BLRW chicks, one black and one splash. Both turned out to be boys. I just bought a full dozen BLRW hatching eggs and I'm trying again. I am hoping for some pullets this time!

oh thank you! I have two splash female keepers, and I am debating whether to include them in the breeding pen. I still have a long time to decide, but I love thinking about it all.

1 splash has better lacing than the other... I also have a black BLRW but right now her lacing is still showing the double-lacing look... wondering if she can grow out of it. you can actually see her in the bottom left corner of that photo.
