Hi! I'm new at all this. I have 28 eggs in the bator for august 14 hatch!! I was wondering if someone could tell me the proper color name for my hen? I know my blue laced red but wasn't sure of the other

She is a splash laced red.

Thank you so much! What will happen if she is with a blue laced red roo?? Is that a bad thing or just going to get ugly splash? Not ugly but dirty in coloring

Ok, I have another question for anyone...Is this a pullet or roo? Suppose to be a 4 month old pullet, which I think she is but her comb is getting a bigger then the other 2 the same age

Splash laced...

Blue x Splash will give you about 50% blue chicks and 50% splash chicks.
Blue x Black = 50% blue, 50% black
Blue x Blue = 50% blue, 25% black, 25% splash
Splash x Splash = 100% splash
Black x Black = 100% black
Black x Splash = 100% blue

I've read that the best blues and best lacing will come from breeding blue to blue though.

It's really hard for me to tell from those pictures. Maybe someone else can give you a better idea. Are you sure on the age? It could be a 4 month old pullet.. but it also looks like it could be a 3 month old cockerel..

Looking at the feathering pattern and face, I would lean toward Roo... However, I am no expert and this is my first year raising BLR Wyandottes.

lol....I'm not sure of anything from the person I got them from. I don't know that much but my feeling says roo...I don't mind though if he turns out nice! I needed a roo and all she had were splash and I would like a blue. I just might not would've paid for 28 eggs to hatch!! lol It all works out....will love them all just need another coop and run
