HUGE BLR(splash) Peep. He has a brother that sized also...the rest are normal sized (like the one on the right)! Only 2 weeks old...might keep this one, and I don't keep spashes!

That is one big huge head..you migh have to hang on to him for a while anyway..might be nice to breed back to a pen of blacks.

I don't keep splash either..I have some nice big ones in this batch too..but they are going tomorrow..

We have 2 blues we wish we had a splash or 2 they are such pretty birds! why don't you guys keep them?

most people like the BLUE lrw and so the splash are like a watered down version its just a preference im guessing

The splash are the prettiest. Breed the splash to the blacks and raise all blues and sell them. I would like to have one of those big splash roosters to breed to blacks.

I like the blues best. Splash are my least favourite of the three.

I'm going to guess maybe it's because the splash tends to wash out the red color and it's harder to get that deep mahogany on the splash birds for that reason...?

i would breed blue to black, to keep the blue nice and dark, then the occasional splash produced from these dark blues would probably be more colorful in turn.

Hmmmm. That's not how I understood the genetics worked.

black x blue = 50% each black & blue
blue x blue = 25% black, 50% blue, 25% splash
splash x blue = 50% each blue and splash
splash x black = 100% blue.

when i said produced from these dark blues i meant breeding blue to blue.
so if you breed your blues to black, that helps keep the blues nice and dark. when you breed darker blues together, you tend to get more colorful splashes. and if those more colorful splashes are bred to black, you should, in turn, go back to nice dark blues.
