I'm curious, what would you say is the average age that a BLRW hen will begin to lay eggs and for how long?
Both my blrw hens did not lay till 8 months

Quick question.
What is the proper term for a splash BLRW?
Is it splash laced red or
Splash blue laced red?
In the UK we just call them splash laced wyandottes, however we also just call our blues, blue laced wyandottes instead of blue laced red wyandottes!
I would imagine they would be called "splashed laced red" - given that they are splash and not blue so wouldn't really suit the " splash blue laced red" name you have propsed![]()
I agree that your cockerel is blue. My splash birds are very obvious, usually white or a very pale blue without consistent coloring (speckling and variation throughout the blues).Looks blue to me, Splash would be a tad lighter![]()
They are always BLRW which come in splash(white to near white), blue(light to dark) and black. so a splash BLRW.
I agree with you, the first hen is a little light , but I would still say blrw and the black is showing incomplete lacing as they often do. Perhaps some more pics in different lighting help.Hi Everyone , So glad i found this thread I am confused about colors in the BLRW new to this breed. Here are some pics can someone help me out?
