Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

Pics
A few pictures of the 8 week old that everyone says is a rooster. See if these help. I hope the last picture was a bad shot.

Yippie! I get to join the club! Yesterday I picked up 4 BLRWs, 1 blue roo, and 1 blue, 1 black and 1 splash hen... hopefully since they're only about 10 weeks old. I'll post pictures as soon as I take them, lol, but I'm THRILLED to have some of these beautiful birds!

I have joined the BLRW band wagon. Boy, I did not realize just how pretty they are as wee chicks! The red in them just pops out. These are the only 2 that hatched from the shipped eggs I got from a fellow BYCer. I am hoping for girls.

How cute they are with their mommas!
What breed is that hen on the left? She's pretty.

Saphire is a Blue Wyandotte. The fluffy black hen is Rita who is a Silkie.
This is their first time being mommas and so far they are being good mommas.

I moved my young BLRW to their new digs last night. They would probably be happier if the wind wasn't blowing the tarps but at least it isn't 100 degrees anymore. These are some of the prettiest birds I own! And they are so nice to work around. I hatched these from eggs I bought off another forum and may get some more when Fern offers them.

So glad to find this thread! I am in love with the BLRW. We have some hatchery SLW right now, and they are either not laying due to the heat, or are eating the few eggs they are laying. Daughter says she saw an egg, and then it was gone, so who knows. They've just never done that before. I did put some oyster shell out for them so we'll see. Anyway, I had intended on getting Marans because I like the dark chocolate color of the eggs, but have just fallen in love with the BLRW coloring. I will also probably get a small flock of leghorns or some other breed known to lay well in the heat (we are in SE Ga) but can't wait to get some of these beautiful birds!
