Did ya mean so I know which one is a pullet and which is a Roo? I thought the note was for both being pullets, LOL

You said you had trouble telling them apart? One is tagged, the other isn't LOL!

I switched over to blue and black wyandottes this year. I have over a 100 right now and am going to keep all through the winter and cull in the spring. Plus, my dozen blr, the EEs and production reds. Whew!

I use different colored non numbered bands to tiere my birds. One for the best looking juveniles pullets and cockerels, another color band for the "maybes", and yet a third colored band for the future generic layers (these in my case having black faces and inverted combs) and cockerels that will be culled. If nothing else it gives me a visual guideline of "what the heck was I thinking" once the juvies reach maturity. Or maybe a pleasant surprise.

So i just got three BLRW today and two buff, white sexlink cross (i think) chicks. All 4 weeks old.
My question is at what age can i tell what sex the BLRW are? ive tryed to google this question before asking incase its a dumb question... but i cant find the answer just a couple "you might be able to do it this way".....

Hi Stumpfarmer! I am indeed in your Washington.

What part of the state are you in? I am about an hour north of Portland...are you anywhere close? I would definitely take this boy off your hands if he came with the 2 pullets as well.

I think he is lovely and so are those girls. Do you have any hatching eggs available?

I'm an hour or so north of you, in Lacey. You should wander over to the Washington State Thread where there's several people who breed BLRWs in both large fowl and bantams and join the chatty conversation.

I got the cockerels with pullets I needed to go with a slightly older pair, so sorry, no extra females. These girls are his full sisters and my other cockerel has better blue (they're both Splash, but the other guy is somewhat less pale). I failed to hatch seven eggs earlier this month, and will not be doing another fertility test until I finish permanent coops for everything, but after that will have eggs, I hope.
