wow, I have had an incrediable day. I have been breeding blr for 4 yrs now. I have had so many run ins with weasels killing 90% of my flock (leaving me 2 hens and a roo) to a dog that kills at least one new chick of every group added to the coop that I'm trying to grow out. so todayI was at a poultry swap and I have been looking for birds of my line all summer after the weasel killed my only blr roosters (2) and I only had a white available. much harder to get back to blr when one parent is white but I did get one blr chick from the pairing (which the dog killed). anyway, at the swap the guy was talking about his blr wyandottes and that he had them here last week. well the only ones I saw last week were gold not mahogany. so we talked and he invited to see the birds if I wanted to buy. I went over and what did I see, but 2 of my chicks grown out. once he told me where he bought them I knew 100% sure, they came from me. brought one home and I may have to go back for number 2 (but he can keep the gold birds)
