Blue Laced Red Wyandotte THREAD!

We just had that talk a month or two ago..... I know there is no EASY cross. They are not a golden with blue added. They are different, they have a mahogany gene that makes the RED really dark.

o.k. so how do you breed them
a blue laced red wyandotte involves a number of mutations. lacing itself is a combination of the pattern, columbian and melanizing genes, add to that blue and mahogany. so you could create a blrw from combining partridge (for the pattern gene and mahogany - more rare than blrw i believe) with blue and columbian, and hope that the melanizing gene is in the birds you use... but for the time and money involved in obtaining good quality birds of the other varieties, and spending 3-5 years crossing them and hoping to get the right mix (not to mention food), you're better off spending $100 per bird and buying some of the best Jerry Foley has to offer.
