Blue laced Red Wyandotte variations?

Blue varies in depth, mostly due to the fact that it is only one copy of the gene causing the mutation. You see light morphs, dark morphs, and anything in between. I've heard that breeding blue to black again and again results in darker offspring, and the reverse with breeding blue to splash, though I have not seen that in my blues, and they all vary regardless of parentage.

Ideally you'd be aiming for a mid-tone, slate coloured blue. As blue doesn't breed true, any hatch of Blue Laced Red Wyandottes will result in 25% splash laced red wyandottes, and 25% black laced red wyandottes; these cannot be shown, but can be used for breeding.

When you say blue do you mean Blue Laced Red Wyandotte? Just want to be sure...

So long as the parents are pure, and they have all the correct genetics (Mahogany, Lacing, etc etc) the offspring should follow with the same. Always select your breeders according to the standard, and if any chicks are not the correct colour (and by this I mean pattern), they shouldn't be used as your breeders. Birds with good lacing, good type, good health will make good breeders, regardless of whether they are blue, black or splash.
