Straight Run, so looking for confirmation. We think this may be a male, but we have never had Ameraucana before. 13 weeks old. All pics are of the same bird. Also, this was supposed to be a blue Ameraucana, but looks quite black to me, so can this be a blue Ameraucana?

This is our black Ameraucana roo. You can see his sickle and hackle feathers well in this pic, but he’s a year old... A roo typically has a three row pea comb, sickle and hackle feathers. No crowing? Looks like a black roo to me but not getting a great view of sickle and hackle feathers...

Thanks. At 13 weeks, I’m not sure if the saddle feathers would be very apparent yet. The elongated, curved tail makes me wonder if male. You’re right -a pea comb should be 3 rows for male. This pea comb is wide though. No, we have not noticed any crowing yet. But, we have a head rooster (17 months old), and several more males at 13 weeks -some of those are crowing. We plan to get rid of all males except head rooster and 1 or 2 young ones to see how they develop. Plenty of girls.

I would say cockerel also, hackle feathers are very pointed, red comb at 13 weeks. Saddle feathers are not really showing, but Ameraucana's are slow maturing quite often, so closer to 20 weeks it may be clearer. And I have been wrong before, I've got a hen that I was sure was a cockerel until about 20 weeks, they do tend to be a bit slower than some other breeds in feathering. And definitely black, not blue. Pictures here of the accepted colors for reference:
