I agree if your wanting a breeding rooster for your Orps you need to wait a good while longer. I really think the Splash is going to turn out nice and the dark blue...It would be between those two for me.

I also have a really really nice black that I wasn't even considering keeping just because I figured I get a better selection of blues and splashes if I didn't use him. Would you recommend I reconsider letting him go??

Have you posted a pic of him? I'm trying to keep one of each color personally for my own use..

I have an older Blue now that gets along with the Black younger roo so I keep them together during the year...I have a new Splash cockeral growing out...

Black over blue hens will give you 50% blacks & 50% Blues...

I like the splashes mixed in with my hens...

They are all beautiful! They are slow growing and it would be wise to wait somewhere between six to eight months before you make your decision. I agree with the folks in here...just wait and see!
