Blue Orps

Skeeter, I have to admit I haven't tired of going out to feed them in the mornings. I end up running late from standing and staring and watching them. Pure Eyecandy

Those are definitely great eyecandy!

Absolutely beautiful!

Julie I have a silly question. Do the chicks look any different when they are young? Like is their down fluffier? Backs shorter?

What do you look for when choosing which ones to keep, and how long does it take to get to that age?

They are just absolutely beautiful!!!

Taz they are a little larger. THe shape of the chest is a little more extended. Chick down the same. I have noticed on the cockerels they tend to have more black around the eye on the chick down. I will have to keep them around for 5 to 7 months. I finally am getting more fertiles without having to trim butt feathers. I just candled about 36 eggs and over 24 growing. This should be my best hatch so far.
I have only been getting 1 to 6 so far and I think I have about 6 splash. I like splash but they are not my favorites.

That is great information. I would hate to trim them too! 24 out of 36 is much better than 6 out of 36. Splash isn't my favorite, but some can be stunning.
