Blue Plymouth Rock roo x barred rock hen

I still don't know what you want to create. I can't help you if I don't know what you want.

Do you want to make sex links? You cannot with the chickens you have now unless you have some you are not telling us about. But you possibly can with the next generation. Save a male that is not barred. Mate him to a hen that is barred. That part is not that hard.

The harder part is color. Do you want them to all be Black? To all be Blue. Are you OK with some Black and some Blue? Would you be OK with some Splash, some Blue, and some Black? This could take some typing and get confusing, I'd prefer you to tell us what you would be OK with before I go further.

Or do you want something else?

Be careful with genetics, or mistakes are sure to happen!

What if I cross a white crested black polish roo, with an Ameraucana hen?
IDK if you're actually looking for an answer, just hijacking the thread or attempting to be funny.
With the info you've given all anyone's gonna be able to tell you is you'll get mixed breed chicks.
Maybe start your own thread if you're really looking for answers.

I truly don’t know what I want to create... just trying to figure out WHAT I can do with them that will be interesting...
I do have an assortment of others in my other flock but they’re mostly colored egg layers (ameracauna, legbar, welsummer and marans)... 5 Australorp pullets but I am not sure they’ll help in this.

Yes I suppose I wanted them to be sexable... but as moonshiner the parents may not even be truly sexable due to screwed up genetics.
So is there a way for me to clear them up to make it so they ARE sex links? I’d like to know at hatch

If you have a Welsummer rooster you can make Black Sex Links if you put him with your Barred Rock hens.

Are your Ameraucana true Ameraucana or are they EE's? If you have a true Ameraucana rooster, which approved color/pattern is he? What approved color/pattern are any Ameraucana hens? If they are not an approved color/pattern they are not true Ameraucana.

Same questions for the Marans. What color/pattern males do you have? What color/pattern females? What do we have to work with?

I can't come up with any sex link with a Cream Legbar male. A Cream Legbar hen is barred so you might get a Black Sex Link if you have the right color/pattern male.

I can not think of any use for the Australorp pullets to make sex links.

A Welsummer of Marans rooster over a CL or Ameraucana hen could give you an olive egger pullet. A CL or Ameraucana rooster over a Welsummer or Marans hen could give you and olive egger pullet. Whether or not these could be sex links depends on the color/pattern of the Marans or Ameraucana.

Just a welsummer pullet (well 3).

As for colors... true ameracauna. Blue and black. (2 of each). But not sure sexes yet. They’re young. I also have two also unsexed wheaten ameracauna.

For the marans.. also blue and black copper. French standard (feathered legs I believe that means). Again.. not sure on sexes but I should know soon and I have 6 of those.

These darn blue Plymouth rocks (10 total)... I guess they’re going to make good straight run DP birds... supposed to lay very well but sounds like I don’t have anything to make them sex links

As Moonshiner said, not in this generation.

A Wheaten Ameraucana roo over a Barred Rock hen will give you a black sex link, pullets will lay green eggs. So will a Blue or Black Ameraucana roo over a Barred Rock hen.

A Blue or Black Ameraucana roo over a Cream Legbar hen will give a Black Sex Link, pullets will lay blue eggs.

I'm not sure what a Blue Marans is, a roo might or might not be useful to make sex links.

Well that’s all very interesting...
blue marans are just like black copper... only blue copper..

I need to find out if my local food kitchen can take donations of home grown chicken in case I have too many..

Is there any “project” involving a few generations that can sex link the blue Plymouth’s? I’ve got time lol..

Oh... what will the ameracauna sex links look like? Will they retain the adorable muffs?
