If it's genetic, how do I keep it going from one generation to the next?

It has to be genetic.

It is, it's called the celedon gene and seems to be a simple recessive.

You can get the gene from Old World Quail on eBay right now, tho whether I recommend ordering from them or not is still up in the air (I plan to do a review in a few weeks either way once my recent issue is resolved).

I literally just had one "blue egg" baby hatch this morning! He's a cute little sucker, but I'm still waiting to see whether his feet are going to uncurl on their own. :/

Breed momma blue layer to a male son, if you just have the one right now. At least, that's my understanding if it is actually the same gene always causing the blue/green coloration.

Awesome, thank you, I might just try this with mother to son experiment. Then maybe just maybe their offspring will lay the same. We shall see
